Range Rover Charging System Fault

broken image
2015 range rover evoque charging system fault

Randomly this weekend our rig started having an intermittent charging system fault. The alternator was replaced about 1.5 years ago with an OEM unit. I checked the voltage and both the battery and alternator seem to be working in spec. Loss of power on the Range Rover ® L322 can be caused by a number of issues. Most will require the vehicle plugging into diagnostic equipment to find the exact cause however the most common faults are EGR valves or a split in one of the intercooler hoses. https://nonsdibundket1972.mystrikingly.com/blog/file-juicer-4-55. Parked switched off and while wife gets out I turn the radio on - centre display comes up with message 'Warning Low Battery' 'Start engine or turn off entertainment system within 3 minutes'.

Hi, I know when you change a battery on a Audi it needs coding to the car so Land Rover could be the same with the new technology. It will start but start to bring up faults and not charge. Also the battery has to be of the same type so best to order the battery from the reg plate. Land Rover / Range Rover have changed a lot over the years. 2011 Ranger Rover sport was used to jump start another car. Afterwards a warning message popped up 'Charging system fault' along with battery symbol and red triangle. Says to push 'ok' to reset. When pushing 'ok', it does not reset. Do not know what has gone wrong.

No longer in that part of the world unfortunately or would have been glad to offer some assistance.
If you have access to a voltmeter, try measuring the voltage across the battery with the engine running - you should see 14.5 - 14.7, if you do you can be reasonably confident your alternator is OK.
Have a look at the battery voltage then with the engine off, having left the car to stabilise preferably overnight - you want to be seeing high end of 12v here.
One thought, if your battery is original it is 4 years old now - could actually be on the way out?
If you do a search on here on 'charging system fault' I'm sure there is quite a lot of other info available.

Yea, did that the out put is only 11 volts.
Have had a good look around and this looks a big job. Im guessing the radiator has to come off etc?

Speaking to people I'm guessing I don't need the fault codes read as this is a simple alternator failure? Any thoughts? Las vegas slot machine games.

If you are only getting 11 volts when engine is running, your alternator is cream crackered sir (unless it is a bad / loose connection).
I'd check the connections / cables first. The workshop manual is on the WIKI here, that will tell you what is involved to replace the alternator if necessary - haven't done an FF yet so don't know if the rad needs to come off, or how big a job it is.
If you are only getting 11v when running, you will be draining your battery quite badly so I suggest you get a trickle charger on it pronto to fetch it back up again or you may end up having to replace that too (they don;t like sitting in a discharged state for any length of time, and if they are left like this they will no longer charge to full capacity, and we all know what that means on a FF - Gremlins!!
With regard to the fault codes, you are going to have to disconnect the battery while sorting this out, which will produce a whole shedload of fault codes, so I suggest you solve your charging problems first, then get the codes cleared afterwards.

Non of the above, your alternator will just need a new regulator. https://herexload128.weebly.com/queen-of-the-nile-slot.html. Never done a range rover but I wouldn't mind betting it could be swapped while on the car.
You just need the actual alternator model info and find the parts

Probably cost circa £30Current

Should the battery be recharged using a AGM specific battery charger or will the cars alternator recharge the battery back to a healthy condition.
Thanks

Replaced alternator. An absolute swine to get out... Pokemon computer game download mac.
Then spent 10 minutes clearing the list of fault codes, thrown up as all the systems shut down.2010 TDV8 3.6 Galway Green
